4 generations of Havanese from Havs de Grace, Maryland

We are so proud of the latest litter of pups from the Grande Dam of them all, Lilli - and GCH Larrgo. That’s the 6 cuties on the right. They are the 4th generation of their home-bred Havanese.

On the left is Lilli de Grace and next to her is We Luv Lucci de Grace - another Grand Champion. Next to Lucci is her son We Luv Lickin Larrgo de Grace, also a Grand Champion.

Our home-bred Havanese have been a joy. With several Grand Champions and more to come, we celebrate four generations at this point in time. The latest 6 puppies are true to their line!

Come on - admit it - they are ADORABLE! Well, okay, so the “weblady” is a bit biased. haha But they were so much fun during our photo session. I nearly forgot to point the camera!!!

We Luv Lucci de Grace has earned her Grand Championship this week at the Pocono Mountain Kennel Club, Inc. Dog Show held at the Macungie Memorial Park, Macungie, PA. We couldn’t be any more proud of our dogs.

Lokkei Tours the Havre de Grace Waterfront

It was a great evening (Aug. 29) when I had the opportunity to walk the waterfront in Havre de Grace. It was a little overcast, but comfortable with a wonderful breeze. And so many new things to smell, and hear, and taste.

I even met a new friend, young Jill. She was so much fun! We shared kisses and giggles.

I enjoyed seeing the Thursday night sailboat races, the skipjack Martha Lewis and the Lantern Queen riverboat. Golly, I can’t wait to get to Binghamton to tell Larrgo all that I’ve seen. He’ll be sooooo jealous!

Keep checking back. By the time you read this I’ll have headed back to Binghamton to my handler, Ruthellen Viall of Viva Havanese. She’ll be working with me and Larrgo so we’ll be in tip-top form for the Westminster Dog Show in Feb. 2014!

Lokkei definitely has both the fine line of the Havanese, the charming personality, and the energy of a 2 year old kid. He was just enjoying himself so much today!

It was delightful to spend an hour playing with Lokkei de Grace, officially known as Gr. Ch. Angebraten Wall St Wonder. I tried to get a few casual photos and a bit of video.

He was certainly full of the Havanese vim and vigor and silliness. I spent a lot of time just aiming for the right shot only to have him turn his back and head the other direction. What a character.

He leaves Wednesday to meet with his trainer/handler Ruthellen Viall of Viva Havanese in Binghamton, NY. There he’ll join Larrgo de Grace as they prepare for the challenge of the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in NYC in Feb. 2014. Golly, whatever will Pastor Ed and Debbie do if they both are vying for first place. We can only hope they have such a dilemma!

Lokkei Shines…

Lokkei wins at HarrisburgThis morning we traveled to Timonium, MD to the Maryland State Fairgrounds to see Barron Lokkei de Grace win his Championship.

GCh Surluv Lickin Larrgo de Grace also was in the show and scored more points. As I said before we are going to allow Ch Baron Lokkei de Grace to continue towards his Grand Championship as well. Next week they will be at Trenton, NJ.

Havs of Havre de Grace now has Ch Sedoso Lolla Mae de Grace, Ch We Luv Lucci de Grace. GCh Surluv Lickin Larrgo de Grace and Ch Baron Lokkei de Grace.

Lokkei Adds Points

Lokkei at Troy Kennel Club

Yes this is Lokkei!!

He is really looking good. He won his first two points at Troy (NY) Kennel Club Show.

 
Last weekend he was at the Harrisburg Gray and Blue Cluster Dog Show (3 days) and won all three days for a total of 12 points (Best of Breed). He is well on his way towards his AKC Championship. We have decided we will let him also go towards his Grand Championship. We are really excited!!!

Meanwhile Larrgo continues to win and has a total of 79 Grand Championship points making him Top Dog in Maryland. We are proud of our dogs and very thankful to the loving, yet professional work done my handler, Ruthellen Viall of Viva Havanese in Binghamton, NY.

While the “Red dog got his first 2 points”,” meaning Baron LOKKEI de Grace needs only 13 more points for his championship.

So Just What IS the Havanese Standard?

The American Kennel Club in brief says about the Havanese Breed:

The Havanese is trainable and intelligent and possesses a naturally affectionate temperament, which making the breed an ideal family pet. Although a toy dog, they remain energetic and require some form of daily exercise. The breed’s non-shedding coat makes it suitable for allergy sufferers, but regular grooming is necessary to keep the coat in top condition.

Click on THIS LINK to learn more about the very traits that will determine the winner at this year’s Westminster Dog Show for Best of Havanese Breed. It’s written in great detail even down to the number of teeth in the mouth! Watch the judges look at the teeth. There are other considerations such as personality, temperament, how they move, self-confidence and more.

Our LARRGO will compete among the Havanese Breed first, of course. The winner will then compete against the other breeds in the “Toy Group.” The winner of the Toy Group will be in the finale Tuesday Night (on television)!

Just What Is So Special About the Westminster Dog Show?

Westminster? Special? Could it be that this is the 137th Annual Dog Show?

Or might it be that it takes place in Madison Square Garden, New York, NY?

Larrgo is GRAND CHAMPION!Maybe it’s the 2,721 dogs from around the world that are entered. Or maybe it’s the fact that the Westminster Dog Show is the second-longest continuously-held sporting event in this country - the first being the Kentucky Derby. WOW!

Maybe it’s the fact that the grand finale will be televised on CNBC-tv on February 12th. Then again, it just might be ALL the above!

For us at Hav’s of Havre de Grace, it’s the excitement that one of our own, SurLuvs Lickin Larrgo de Grace (Larrgo to those who know and love him) is entered with 25 other Havanese being judged on conformation to the Havanese standard.
